As Director of Training and Field Engineering for ZETA-TECH Associates, Inc., Donald Holfeld spearheads all field engineering activities including inspection and field evaluation of track, bridges and structures, and derailment investigation. He is also the Director of Training for the company, developing and implementing a wide variety of training programs covering all aspects of railway and transit operations.

Holfeld joined ZETA-TECH in 1994 after leaving Canadian National (CN) North America, where he spent more than two decades. At Canadian National, he most recently held the position of System Director of Operations Training and was responsible for the organization and direction of the railroad’s system wide Railway Training Group. Prior to that position, Holfeld worked as a Systems, Research and Track and Roadway Engineer for the railroad.

Holfeld holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta as well as a number of management and training certifications.

As Manager of Training Development, Mr. William (Bill) Sears develops and delivers training programs in railroad and transit operations and maintenance for ZETA-TECH Associates, Inc. He specializes in transit operations, wheel/rail interface problems, Motive Power and new technology for the railroad industry.

Sears has more than thirty-seven years experience in the railroad industry. Before joining ZETA-TECH, Sears was a Senior Technical Specialist at CANAC, Inc. where he played a major role in the development and delivery of CANAC’s computer-based training programs for locomotive engineers. Prior to working at CANAC, Sears spent the majority of his professional career at Canadian National Railways holding a number of different technical positions including Technical Supervisor of the Gimli Locomotive Training Center and Instructor and Technical Supervisor for the student locomotive engineers program.

Sears is a graduate of St. Clairs College Science and Electronics Program and is a certified locomotive engineer. He is also the graduate of a number of training and management courses.
